Claude Instagram Performance Review
Open Meta Business Suite. Hand it to Claude. Get a fortnightly read on what's actually working, what to repeat, and what to retire. No spreadsheet, no guesswork.
This skill is a multiplier, not a magic wand.
It can only read what's actually visible to it. Without the Chrome connection set up properly, it'll guess instead of reading the real numbers.
Before you install, make sure you have:
- Claude in Chrome installed so Claude can read your live Meta Business Suite tab
- Meta Business Suite access with insights enabled for your account
- A clear sense of your audience and main offer so the analysis ties back to your business
- At least 14 days of recent posts so there's enough data to find a pattern
Without these, the skill flies blind. With them, it reads the data you've been ignoring and tells you what to do next.
Reads your data. Tells you what to do next.
A fortnightly read of your Instagram performance. The numbers, the pattern under the wins, the honest take on the flops, and three specific actions for the next two weeks.
Pulls the real numbers
Reach, engagement, follower change, post-by-post breakdown. Pulled live from Meta Business Suite, not invented.
Finds the pattern
Looks at your top 3 by saves and shares (the better signal of resonance) and tells you what they have in common.
Names the flops
Honest read on what didn't land and why. Which posts to retire and which to refine.
Gives you three actions
One pattern to repeat, one format to retire, one new thing to test. All specific to your data, no generic advice.
Copy this into Claude
Install it once as a custom skill. Replace the placeholders before you save. Then any time you say "review my Instagram performance" or "what's working on Instagram", Claude runs this automatically.
# Instagram Performance Review
Reads Meta Business Suite live and gives a fortnightly read on what's working, what's not, and what to do next. Use this skill any time I say "review my Instagram", "analyse my Insta performance", "what's working on Instagram", "Instagram audit", "what should I post more of", "look at my Meta Business Suite", or any variation of wanting an honest read on social performance. Always use this skill rather than guessing from memory.
---
## Your Setup
Update these once before saving the skill:
| Token | Value |
|---|---|
| Business name | [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] |
| Business description | [BRIEF BUSINESS DESCRIPTION] |
| Audience | [WHO YOU SPEAK TO] |
| Main offer | [YOUR MAIN OFFER] |
| Posting cadence | [POSTING CADENCE e.g. "3 to 4 times a week, mostly carousels and reels"] |
---
## Before reviewing, confirm:
1. Is Meta Business Suite open in another Chrome tab on the Insights view, set to the last 14 days?
2. Do I have Claude in Chrome installed so the page can be read live?
3. Is there at least 14 days of post activity to analyse?
---
## Step 1: Pull the numbers
Read Meta Business Suite live using Claude in Chrome. Pull the following from the last 14 days:
- Total reach
- Total accounts engaged
- Follower change (gained vs lost)
- Post-by-post: format (reel/carousel/single image/story), date posted, reach, likes, comments, saves, shares
- Top 3 posts by reach
- Top 3 posts by saves+shares (the better signal of "this resonated")
If anything is unclear or you can't see it, tell the user what you can't see. Don't guess numbers.
---
## Step 2: Find the pattern
Look at the top 3 by saves+shares. For each:
- What was the hook
- What was the format
- What was the topic angle (educational, personal story, contrarian take, list, etc.)
- What did the caption do
- Why I think it worked (your read)
Then tell the user what those three have in common. The pattern under the wins.
---
## Step 3: Find the flops
Look at the bottom 3 posts by reach. For each:
- What format
- What topic
- What likely went wrong (hook, timing, format mismatch, audience disconnect)
- Whether to retire this entirely or refine it
Be honest. If a post bombed, say so.
---
## Step 4: Tell the user what to do next
Three specific actions for the next 14 days based on what you just read. Each one should be concrete:
- One pattern to repeat (e.g. "post another carousel using the [X] hook structure on [topic]")
- One format to retire or rest (e.g. "stop posting Q&A carousels for now, they aren't landing")
- One thing to test (e.g. "try a reel using your top-performing carousel topic, audience clearly wants more of that take")
---
## Output format
1. The numbers (reach, engagement, follower change, with a one-line read on each)
2. Top 3 posts (with your pattern read)
3. Bottom 3 posts (with your honest read)
4. Three actions for the next 14 days
5. One question for the user to think about before next fortnight's review
Keep it under 800 words. This is a working document, not a report.
---
## Copy rules
- Never invent metrics. If you can't see a number, say so
- Never give generic advice ("post more reels", "use trending audio"). Everything must be specific to the user's actual data
- No em dashes — use commas or full stops instead
- Never use these words: unlock, transform, elevate, level up, game-changer, leverage, hustle, scale, manifest, empower
- Australian English (analyse, organise, colour, etc.)
- Warm and direct. Never hype, never corporate
- If two patterns contradict each other, surface that. Don't smooth it over
---
## After running the skill
Tell the user:
1. Run the three actions in the next 14 days
2. Save this read so you can compare patterns over the next fortnight
3. If a post you thought would bomb did well (or vice versa), tell me what you noticed so I sharpen the next read
4. Schedule the next review in your calendar so this becomes a fortnightly rhythm
Replace these before you save
Five placeholders. The cadence one helps Claude know what's on-pattern for you and what's a deviation worth flagging.
Your business name.
One line. e.g. "an online business teaching content strategy to creators".
Your audience. e.g. "service-based founders in their first 3 years of business".
The offer your content ultimately points back to.
How often you post and what mix. e.g. "3 to 4 times a week, mostly carousels and reels, with one personal post on Saturdays".

Why I built this one
I used to look at my Instagram analytics about once a month, panic, and then ignore them again until the next panic. The numbers were right there, the patterns were probably obvious, but I never had the time to really sit with them.
The first time I ran this skill, Claude told me my "behind the scenes" reels were doing 3x my carousels but I'd been posting 2 carousels for every 1 reel. I changed the ratio that week. The data was always there. I just needed someone to read it back to me.
