Your email dashboard, set up in ten minutes.
Flodesk now connects straight to Claude. Here's exactly how to set it up, click by click, even if you've never connected anything before.
- Time About 10 minutes
- Cost Free with Flodesk
- Code None
- Risk Read-only, nothing gets sent
No API keys. No Zapier. No spreadsheets.
I don't write my emails anymore. I still know exactly how they're going.
Someone on my team writes and sends my emails now. Handing that over was one of the best decisions I've made. But handing over the doing doesn't mean handing over the numbers.
This is how email runs in my business each week:
- 01My copywriter writes and sendsFrom a brief, in my voice. My team
- 02Claude reads the results from FlodeskEvery send, every form, every automation. You're getting this today
- 03A dashboard is waiting for me on MondayPlus the three things to change next. You're getting this today
- 04I brief the next week from the dataNot from a hunch, and not from my opinion. My setup
Four things your list is already telling you
- 01
Which emails actually worked
Every send ranked by clicks, not opens. Opens tell you who glanced. Clicks tell you what people want more of.
- 02
When your people read
The days and times your list actually opens, so you stop sending whenever you happen to finish writing.
- 03
Whether your list is growing
New subscribers against unsubscribes, week by week, and which sign-up form or freebie is pulling its weight.
- 04
Where your automations leak
Your welcome sequence and other workflows ranked, so you can fix the one email people drop off at instead of rewriting the lot.
Six steps, no tech skills needed
- 01
Open your connectors
In Claude (the desktop app or claude.ai), click Customise then Connectors.
- 02
Find Flodesk
Click Add then Browse connectors, and search for Flodesk.
- 03
Connect your account
Click Connect to Claude. Flodesk will open and ask you to log in. Log in with the account you send your emails from, then approve the connection.
- 04
Check it's working
Start a new chat and paste this in. If Claude lists your Flodesk tools back to you, you're connected.
In plain English, what can you see and do with my Flodesk connector? - 05
Build your dashboard
Copy the prompt in section 04 below, fill in the highlighted bits, and paste it into the same chat. Give it a minute or two. It's pulling a lot of data.
- 06
Make it run every Monday
Once you're happy with the dashboard, open Cowork in the Claude desktop app and say:
Turn this into a scheduled task that runs every Monday at 7am. Compare the last 7 days with the 4 weeks before, and give me the three things to change. Needs a paid Claude plan
A Flodesk account (the connection is included at no extra cost) and a Claude account. Steps 1 to 5 work on any Claude plan. Step 6, the automatic Monday refresh, needs Claude Pro or above, because scheduled tasks live in Cowork. On the free plan, just run the prompt yourself each week.
Copy this, fill in the blue bits
This is the prompt I use. The highlighted parts are yours to fill in. Everything else can stay exactly as it is.
[YOUR BUSINESS NAME]Your business name, as your subscribers know it.[WHAT YOU SELL]Your main offer or offers. For example, "brand photography packages" or "a six month coaching program".[WHO YOU SELL TO]Your ideal client in one line. For example, "women who run service businesses".[YOUR EMAIL GOAL]What a good email does for you right now. For example, "book discovery calls" or "fill my next intake".[90]How far back to look. 90 days is a good start. Use 30 if you only email occasionally and want a quick snapshot.[YOUR MAIN SEGMENTS]The names of your two or three biggest segments, exactly as they appear in Flodesk.
The only three numbers I actually look at
A dashboard is only useful if you know what to look for. Here's where my eyes go first.
- 01
Click rate
This is the number that tells me whether the email did its job. If one email clearly beat the rest, I want to know why, and I want more of it.
- 02
Net growth
New subscribers minus unsubscribes. A big list that's quietly shrinking is a problem you want to catch in week one, not month three.
- 03
Your best sign-up form
This is your freebie telling you what people actually want from you. That's usually a clue to what you should be selling next.
Two things I want you to know
First, this connection can do more than read. Claude can also add subscribers, change their details and move them between segments, one at a time. It can't send or schedule emails. It will always ask before changing anything, and the prompt above tells it not to touch your list at all. Still, read what it asks before you click yes.
Second, this prompt runs best on a Claude that already knows your business. It'll work out of the box, but it can feel generic. For Claude to read your numbers like someone who knows your business, you need three layers in place:
- 1
Your preferences
How Claude speaks to you. Your tone, your defaults, the things you don't want to repeat in every conversation. Set once, at the account level.
- 2
Your global instructions
The rules that apply to every chat, everywhere. Your context, your workflows, your non-negotiables, so you're not re-briefing Claude every time.
- 3
Your projects, with knowledge loaded
Each part of your business gets its own project with its own knowledge and instructions, so Claude knows your offers, voice and clients before you type a word.
Without these, the dashboard will still work. With them, it reads like a teammate who already knows your business by heart.
Why I bothered
For years I did email the hard way. I wrote it, sent it, glanced at the open rate, felt either great or terrible about it, and moved on to the next one. I never really knew what was working.
When I handed my emails over, I was nervous I'd lose touch with my own list. The opposite happened. Now I see more than I ever did, and the feedback I give my team is based on what my subscribers actually clicked, not what I felt like that day.
This is one small system. But it's the kind of thing that changes how your whole week runs, and it took ten minutes to set up.
xx Jacqui
This is one of the systems we set up together at the Claude for Business workshop.
Two days, in person in Brisbane, 5 and 6 November. You walk out with Claude set up for your business, connected to your tools and running the admin you're sick of doing.
